Applicant/Borrower Tab

The Applicant tab contains all personal information about the applicant (or borrower for loan applications). This is typically the first tab you'll review when processing an application.

Tab Overview

The Applicant tab is organized into sections:

Address Validation

The system validates addresses against USPS data:

  • Valid - Address confirmed
  • ⚠️ Suggested - Minor correction suggested
  • Invalid - Address not found

Income Disclosure

Alimony, child support, or separate maintenance income need not be revealed if you do not wish to have it considered as a basis for repaying this obligation.

Combined Income (Joint Applications)

For joint applications, combined income is calculated:

Primary Applicant Income:    $5,000/month
Joint Applicant Income: + $4,000/month

Joint Applicant

Adding a Joint Applicant

  1. Click Add Joint Applicant button
  2. Enter joint applicant's information
  3. All sections (personal, address, employment, income) apply
  4. Click Save

Joint Applicant Types

Removing a Joint Applicant

  1. Navigate to joint applicant section
  2. Click Remove Joint Applicant
  3. Confirm removal
  4. Application becomes individual

Editing Applicant Information

Field Editing

Most fields can be edited directly:

  1. Click the field
  2. Enter new value
  3. Tab to next field or click away
  4. Changes are highlighted until saved

Restricted Edits

Some fields may be restricted:

Change History

View changes to applicant data:

  1. Click History icon next to section
  2. See all modifications with:
    • Original value
    • New value
    • Who changed it
    • When changed

Common Actions

Refresh Credit

After updating applicant information:

  1. Click Refresh Credit if available
  2. New credit report pulled
  3. May affect underwriting decision

Send Documents

Request documents from applicant:

  1. Click Request Documents
  2. Select document types needed
  3. Send via email or SMS
  4. Applicant uploads through portal

Contact Applicant

Quick contact options:

  • 📧 Email - Opens email composer
  • 📱 Call - Displays phone number
  • 💬 SMS - Send text message (if enabled)

Best Practices

Data Quality

  • Verify names match ID exactly
  • Confirm address is current and complete
  • Validate phone numbers and emails
  • Ensure income documentation supports stated amounts

Compliance

  • Follow your institution's privacy policies
  • Don't share applicant data unnecessarily
  • Document any manual overrides
  • Complete required disclosures

Efficiency

  • Use tab key to move between fields
  • Complete all required fields before saving
  • Note any discrepancies for follow-up
  • Set reminders for pending verifications
